Neither of these teams will be impacted by the transfer portal. Each team had a couple of players enter, but no significant names were in there. Syracuse did fire their head coach Dino Babers. Our feeling is that his departure might actually give Syracuse a boost. These teams finished with the same record (6-6), but Syracuse grades out higher on both offense and defense. Syracuse is expected to have their QB Garrett Shrader available for this Bowl. It will be interesting to see if interim head coach Nunzio Campanile decides to give the 5th year senior the nod at QB. This game will be played in South Florida, so it is worth noting Syracuse will have a slight travel disadvantage. That being said, South Florida’s advantage is minimal. The Syracuse players will be thrilled to be playing this game in sunny South Florida versus in the northeast. We are comfortable laying the -3 points behind who our metrics suggest is the better overall team.
