One of the biggest stories of the summer is Kevin Durant’s request to be traded from the Brooklyn Nets. When the news initially broke, many NBA fans believed a deal would happen quickly and the market would pounce on KD. However, as a couple weeks have gone by, it seems the KD market might be a bit softer than expected.
Reports across sports media suggest that the Nets have not been shy about wanting a massive haul for KD, including proven young players in addition to draft picks. Over the last few days, reporters and NBA analysts have been suggesting that teams have been hesitant to involve young star players in a deal for a 34 year old Kevin Durant. Either way, it’s an interesting situation with one of the premier players in the NBA.
Here are the updated betting odds on where Kevin Durant will play his next game.
Phoenix Suns (+190)

Brooklyn Nets (+550)
Toronto Raptors (+550)
Golden State Warriors (+1400)

In terms of making a prediction, if we had to make a wager into this market, this would be our bet below.
Miami Heat (+450)
- The Heat check a lot of the boxes needed to make acquiring KD a reality rather than a fantasy. First, the Heat have a lot of young talent including Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo. These players are viewed as highly valuable young assets, which is exactly what the Nets seem to want in an exchange for KD. Whether or not the Heat would include one of those players remains to be seen. In terms of fit and desire to play in Miami, the Heat were reportedly on KD’s short list of teams. They have a front office that is notoriously known to lure in superstars, and one of the best coaches in the NBA in Erik Spoelstra. The Heat have been a consistent winning organization, they were in 7 game series in the Eastern Conference Finals last season, and in the Finals just a few years back. There is a lot of things to like about the Miami Heat for Durant. The biggest question is whether or not the Heat have the draft capital needed, and whether they would be willing to part with one of their young stars. At the (+450) price, this would be our best bet in the KD market.
