As things currently sit (08/20/21), the Padres have a one game lead on the final wild card spot in the NL. The teams that are still a threat to the Padres are as follows. The Reds (1 game back), the Cardinals (3.5 games back), the Phillies (5 games back), and the Mets (6 games back).
Here is the bottom line with this bet... The Padres to make the playoffs is being offered at an appealing (+120) price. For those who don't know, the Padres are one of the publics heaviest bet teams across the MLB. That being said, this prop bet is a HUGE trap for the public. The casual public bettor does not see any logical reason that a team as talented as the Padres would miss the playoffs.
