We’re going streaking! Through Sunday, the Yankees and Braves were both on 9-game winning streaks as they begin their series on Monday. The Reds (4 games), Indians (3) and the Royals (3) are also riding nice winning streaks as we start a new week and hope to continue their winning ways.

Of course, with the good always comes the bad. The White Sox (3), Angels (3), Twins (3), Cubs (3), and Marlins (7) all carry losing streaks into the new week and look to turn things around. Most of these teams are out of the playoff race, but the White Sox are still fighting for playoff position in the American League!

Did we forget someone? Oh yes, we certainly did. The Baltimore Orioles are currently holding onto an 18 – yes, eighteen! – game losing streak as they begin a 3-game set with the Los Angeles Angels. They have won just one game in the month of August!

We had some big movers this week with all the streaks. Let’s take a look…

  

• No movement in the top three as the Dodgers, Giants, and Rays hold down spots 1 through 3 in this week’s rankings.
• The Yankees offense has come alive! As we mentioned above, they take a 9-game win streak into the Braves series, and they’re looking dangerous as they’ve jumped 4 more spots up to 6th this week.
• The Padres continue their August slide as they’re down to 12 in this week’s rankings. They’ve fallen into a battle with the Reds for the 2nd National League wild card spot. Their starting pitching really needs to step up if they want to take it.
• The Mets are also falling fast. Their schedule is brutal at the moment, but they’re not doing themselves any favors on offense. If these bats don’t wake up soon, they can kiss the playoffs goodbye.
• The Orioles take over the bottom spot in our rankings once again. They have a -233 run differential through 123 games. They’re playing for pride… let’s see if they have any.

• The Braves have opened up a nice lead in the National League East, and they’ll look to hang onto it this week with tough matchups against the Yankees and the Giants.
• The White Sox look to get back in the win column as they start a 4-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays.
• Houston can continue building on their American League West division lead as they play the Royals and the Rangers this week.
• The Cincinnati Reds take on the Brewers and the Marlins this week as they try to put some distance between them and the Padres in the wild card race.
• Speaking of the Padres, they take on the Dodgers and Angels this week and look to get back to their winning ways.
