Many believe that this Texas team rightfully deserves to be here. Others feel they were handed a gift by the College Football Playoff committee. While the opinions on Texas being in this game are mixed, here is one thing we know for damn sure. Washington belongs here. Despite playing in what some would call a weak Pac-12 Conference, this Huskies team has walked through the fire and handled business. They have wins over Arizona, Oregon (twice), USC, Utah, and Oregon State. This team is used to getting no love from the sportsbooks. They were a 10 point underdog against Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship, and were underdogs against Oregon State as well. Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. is one of the best QBs in all of college football. He had a legitimate Hesiman case, and his metrics across the board are phenomenal. Texas QB Quinn Ewers is also very talented, but his metrics are worse than Penix in nearly every single stat. One important stat that jumps out between these two QBs is turnover worthy plays. About 3% of Ewers dropbacks have been graded as turnover worthy. That percentage is double Michael Penix Jr. 's turnover worthy metrics. While Texas has the more talented team, Washington has the best player on the field in Michael Penix Jr. Washington +4 is our wager.
