Arizona vs. Oklahoma 9:15pm
Arizona Moneyline (-139)
We are going to lock in our wager early in the Alamo Bowl. This game is on Thursday December 28th. Simply put, this is one of those spots where one team is coming together, and the other looks to be pulling apart. Arizona finished the season on a 6 game win streak, winning a good chunk of those games in blowout fashion. Oklahoma finished the season with a better overall record than Arizona. Heading into week 9 of the college football season, it looked like Oklahoma was going to be a legitimate playoff contender. They had a win over Texas, and a schedule where they were going to be a favorite in all of their remaining regular season games. Oklahoma proceeded to lose back to back games to Kansas and Oklahoma State. They fell out of playoff contention with those losses. Fast forward to the end of the regular season, and many key players/coaches on this team are leaving. Oklahoma’s starting QB Dillon Gabriel entered the transfer portal. True freshman QB Jackson Arnold is expected to start the Alamo Bowl in Gabriel’s place. Oklahoma’s offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby is leaving for the head coaching job at Mississippi State. Three Oklahoma RB’s are entering the transfer portal, in addition to two offensive lineman, and two defensive players. Oklahoma lost their top WR due to injury earlier this season (Andrel Anthony). He will not play in this game. There are 4 additional players that we suspect could miss this bowl game due to opt outs. This includes 3 starting offensive lineman (center Andrew Raym, and both tackles Walter Rouse & Tyler Guyton). Arizona is on the other end of the transfer portal and opt out spectrum. The Wildcats only had one player enter the transfer portal, a backup safety. Arizona does have a couple of NFL bound players who’s agents may talk them out of playing in this Bowl. Regardless, Arizona will have their star QB Noah Fifita, and the majority of their roster out there. We are going to back the team that we feel will be far more motivated, and will have less opt outs and impact by the transfer portal. They also have a far better QB. Arizona on the moneyline for 1.5 units is our wager.
