In this Monday Night NFC North showdown, we are siding with the road divisional dogs. This line currently sits at a juiced +3 for Chicago at most books, around (-115). Rather than taking a juiced +3, we will opt to pay a little bit of extra juice to buy the hook and move this spread through the key number of 3. This line sat at 3.5 for most of the week, but all of those 3.5’s were wiped. Some books will charge an arm and a leg for this half point. We don’t recommend buying it at anything worse than (-125) odds. In terms of the matchup, the Bears have a poor 3-8 record. However, Bears starting QB Justin Fields missed several games, and this defense had problems earlier in the season. Justin Fields is back and he is playing extremely well. The Bears defense has improved drastically since the addition of Montez Sweat. Chicago had one of the worst pass rushes in the NFL, but adding Sweat made their pass rush much more effective. The Bears spent a lot of money this offseason on their defense, and we are starting to see the pieces come together. The Vikings are coming off of a tough 1 point loss on the road against Denver last Sunday night. Minnesota QB Josh Dobbs has done a great job filling in for the injured Kirk Cousins. Yet, we have some concerns when we dive into his advanced passing metrics. Dobbs has a passer rating in the 60’s under pressure, and 4% of his passes this season have been graded as turnover worthy throws. Dobbs has just 6 interceptions, suggesting that he’s been fortunate with turnovers. Vikings top playmaker, and the NFL’s best wide receiver, Justin Jefferson is expected to be out again tonight. When Jefferson returns, we have 0 doubts that this Vikings offense will be able to move the ball much easier. Without Jefferson, this offense has sputtered at times. In a game that could very well come down to a field goal on one side or the other, we will opt for a +3.5 wager on the Bears.
