NOW let's get started….
Carlos Felipe vs. Jake Collier (prelims)
The First fight I will be targeting for UFC 263 is this heavyweight bout that kicks off the preliminary card. Carlos Felipe has good cardio for a heavy weight, and has great boxing skills. His volume and output in all his fights is something to be wary of. Jake Collier looked pretty good in his last bout against Villante. He implemented his kicks well. He looked the best I have ever seen from him. However, let's not forget it was Villante he was fighting. Are we really that impressed by that? Speedy was definitely not. I strongly believe Felipe is the stronger heavyweight, with the better boxing skills. I also think Felipe has the speed advantage over Collier. If it goes past the second round, Felipe will be throwing hooks, and one will land with a fading Collier. Felipe will win this fight by decision due to his output. Felipe also dyed his hair blonde which is always good luck. Ask Brunson!
Speedy’s Prediction: Carlos Felipe by Decision (Confident)
Chase Hooper vs. Steven Peterson
Chase Hooper, one of the youngest fighters in the UFC roster, has a lot of hype behind him. Chase looked amazing in his UFC debut (which I picked correctly) but then suffered a pretty tough loss in his last bout. This is where we saw the weakness and holes of the young fighter. Hooper, knowing this had changed, moved to work with Thomas on his standup. Hooper is a very green and underdeveloped future star. He is simply a wizard on the ground and finds many ways to get the fight there. As far as Steven Peterson, he has more losses than wins in his ufc career. He has dealt with some injuries and that's why he hasn't been in the ring for a while. Steven is definitely no easy fight, but I just don't see how he can beat Chase Hooper. In my opinion, the UFC is giving their potential future star a win here. One thing to be aware of is that Hooper has shown to be chiny. He has been dropped in both his bouts, and Steven does have some power. Even if Peterson has success in the standup, Hooper will find a way to get it on the ground and win Via submission. The UFC has given Chase Hooper this fight because they want him to win. TAKE HIM AS A UNDERDOG HERE! We have nothing to lose! Love this value pick!
Speedy's Prediction- Chase Hooper Via submission Round 2 (Very confident)
Pannie Kianzad vs. Alexis Davis
Alexis Davis only lost to top level competition, and looked amazing against a good prospect in Sabrina Mazo. For those of you who don't know; she's the only female fighter to TKO Amanda Nunez. (It was a long time ago but a fun fact nonetheless.) She tends to get hit hard and look bad in round 1, then bounces back big in the second round. Kianzad's takedown defense is pretty solid. I love her long distance striking. I do not believe Davis can go to a kickboxing match with Kianzad. I also don't believe Davis is going to take her down as well. Davis is gritty. She will give Kianzad a fight but this is simply a fight for Pannie to lose. Kianzad’s leg kicks will keep Davis at bay, and she will cut Davis open early due to her scar tissue. This is one of the easiest picks on the card. I see it as Davis passing the torch to a young talented fighter. Big on Kianzad in this Spot! LOCK her in!
Speedy’s Prediction- Kianzad Via Unanimous Decision (Super confident)
Movsar Evloev vs. Hakeem Dawodu
Evloev, undefeated in his UFC career, is on an absolute tear. He fought Nick Lentz and basically beat him to retirement. Evloev is amazing on the ground, but also has a pretty decent standup. He fought against some good competition, especially for a young fighter! Hakeem, another young prospect, looked great and has had success when he puts his combinations together. My issue with Hakeem is that he has good technique and great leg kicks. However, he has a bad ground game and lacks that knockout power. Evloev is the worst person to fight when you're predominantly a striker, and have a poor ground game. Hakeem, however, does have a great takedown defense which will make this fight somewhat interesting. This is a great opportunity for one of these young talented prospects to jump start their careers. This is a bad matchup for Hakeem, unfortunate for him. Give me Evloev all Day. We are going to smash this PICK!
Speedy’s Prediction- Evloev Via Submission Round 2
Eryk Anders vs. Darren Stewart
This is the second time these two warriors will face one another. In their first meeting, Anders got absolutely rocked within the first few seconds. Stewart walked away like he won. This was a big mistake as Anders came back to stumble Stewart and take the fight completely over. Anders got trigger happy and landed an illegal strike. The fight was considered a no contest. It's very hard to pick a winner for this fight. These fighters can end this fight quickly as we witnessed the first time. I believe Anders is the better overall fighter, but I will not be putting this pick on my card. I am more comfortable playing the prop bet.
Speedy’s Play- Anders/Stewart under 2.5 (Super confident)
Leon Edwards vs. Nate Diaz
Last time Nate Diaz was this big of an underdog was the first time he fought Conor Mcgregor. Guess what? I had Nate Diaz that night and we CASHED HUGE! Obviously a lot has changed since then. We have seen Nate fall in 2 out of his last 3. Nate is aging and seems to get cut by a feather. Nate will always fight hard for your buck. He lost to Jorge, a great fighter, and fell to Conor whom I thought he beat the second time around. People seem to have forgotten who Nate Diaz is. I absolutely love him in this HUGE underdog spot. Is Nate Diaz my favorite fighter? Yes. You will see that in my steady picks bio. Despite the partial bias there is no way I can let him slip away as a +575 underdog. He is very capable of winning this fight so I will take my chances here. Leon Edwards has vicious elbows and has nice spinning attacks. I predict Edwards to cut Diaz open very early in this fight. Yet when has that ever stopped Nate Diaz before? Diaz will take Edwards to deep waters and it will be interesting to see how he reacts to that. Diaz Cardio is NEVER an issue but Edwards did look amazing against Muhhammad in his last bout. Edwards has made strong improvements in every aspect of his game. But does he possess the MMA IQ to come out victorious? Maybe he will. Maybe he won't. What I can say is that I won't be surprised if Edwards ends up winning a strong bloody decision. However, DON'T EVER count out Nate Diaz! At any point of the fight, he is looking for a finish. At these odds, and with his grit, experience, ring IQ and ground game, there is no reason why you shouldn't lay some money on him. This is a great spot to bet on him whether he wins or loses. Nate Diaz is army strong. We are going to lay a unit on Nate. Anything is possible when you bet on NATE! Give me Nate all day! I BELIEVE !
Speedy’s Prediction- Nate Diaz via Decision (slightly confident) (great odds)
Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno II
A possible fight of the night candidate in this banger we have here. The first fight between these two did not disappoint the slightest. It resulted in a majority draw. Brandon Moreno, like I have said in the past, has that special Mexican fighting heart to him. He will never give up on himself, and he strongly believes he is the best fighter in this division. Brandon has taken the tough road to achieve this opportunity and we have seen him have many great stoppages. He definitely had some strong moments in their first meeting, and I'm sure Figueiredo hasn't forgotten about that. Part of me believes he let out some of that frustration in the weigh-in ceremony when he pushed him for no apparent reason. Some believe Brandon is in the champ's head. I don't not believe in that narrative at all. The power Figueiredo possesses in his hands is dynamite. He also has a very slick ground game. He is the champ for a reason and it came out that he wasn't 100% in their first fight. If that is the case, which I 100% believe is accurate, Brandon is in for a very tough night. If Fig. was able to do that at 70% he will put Moreno away easily this time around. As much as I love Moreno as a person and fighter, his time is not now. This is 100% the Figueirdo Era and I don't believe anyone will beat him for a while, at least not now. There is nothing Moreno does better than the champ. I expect the champ to adjust and make this his fight. I expect a dominant performance and I'm willing to say he will get a finish whether it's by TKO or on the ground. Very confident in the AND STILL here. Play these confidently steady pickers! The champ is here to Stay!
Speedy’s Prediction- Figueirdo via TKO round 4 (super confident)
Israel Adesanya vs. Marvin Vettori II
Last but not least, the moment we all were waiting for the HUGE MAIN event. I'll start with the Italian Dream, a big pressure fighter who always moves forward. Vettori is great at bringing the fight to the ground, and setting up his takedowns. We saw this with Kevin Holland. He has great ground in pound but also uses his striking to get the fight where he wants it to go. Although he 100% had his way with Holland, there were moments where Vettori would put his guard down and get rocked. This is a mistake he CANNOT make against the Last Stylebender or it will be an easy night at the office. Everyone keeps criticizing Adesanya saying Vettori will easily take him down. Have we forgotten that he has great takedown defense? Have we forgotten that he has fought wrestlers before? Multiple at that. They all end up striking with him because they get frustrated when they can't implement their game. I foresee the same gameplan here for this one. Israel fought Blachowicz who has the best striking in MMA, and didn't get knocked out. Yet people believe Vettori will knock him out? Yeah, that is 100% not happening. You ask but Blachowicz was able to take him down. Although yes that is true, he got back up and there is a huge difference in weight compared to Vettori. If Vettori can take him down, this fight will get very interesting, and I will be biting some nails. However, I fully trust in the Stylebenders kickboxing and takedown defense. Vettori is one of the youngest fighters in the division. I can see him being champ in the future. It's Adesanya’s time now though! I fully expect AND STILL! I cannot wait to see the fancy dance moves when he shows the world once again he shouldn't be doubted! Fully confident in the Stylebender here!
Speedy’s Prediction- Adesanya via unanimous decision (Super confident)
