The Rangers had an exciting win in game 1. While trailing by 2 runs in the 9th inning, Corey Seager tied the game with a 2 run home run and forced extra innings. Adolis Garcia ended the game with a walkoff home run to give the Rangers the 1-0 series lead. Tonight in game 2 we are siding with the Diamondbacks. Arizona’s starting pitcher Merrill Kelly pitched fantastic against the Phillies in his last start. Kelly also shut down another one of the top offenses on the road in the round prior against the Dodgers. The Rangers have not faced Kelly this season, but he looks to be in good form heading into this game. The Rangers will start Jordan Montgomery, who has faced the Diamondbacks twice this season. Montgomery holds an 0-1 record and 5.25 ERA in those 12 innings. It also concerns us that Montgomery threw 2.1 innings out of the bullpen in game 7 of the ALCS, when he had just pitched over 5 innings in game 5. Despite the Diamondbacks bullpen blowing the lead last night, we still see a clear cut edge in their bullpen versus the Rangers. Texas holds the offensive advantage, but we’d make a case for the Diamondbacks in just about every other facet of the game tonight. We will take the (+125) price behind the underdogs. Enjoy game 2!
