Game 1 of the World Series kicks off tonight in Texas. The Rangers will start Nathan Eovaldi, who is 4-0 this postseason. Eovaldi holds a 2.42 ERA in 26 innings this October. However, Nathan Eovaldi looks to be back in sharp form. The Diamondbacks will start their ace Zac Gallen. This postseason Gallen is 2-2, losing both of his starts against the Phillies in the NLCS. He holds a 5.24 ERA in 22.1 innings in October. Gallen faced the Rangers twice this season, and went 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA in 11 innings. The concern with Gallen is that he has struggled pitching on the road in 2023. He held a 2.47 ERA at home in Arizona, versus a 4.42 ERA on the road. The Rangers offense has a .824 OPS against right handed pitching this postseason, which leads all 12 playoff teams. The Diamondbacks bullpen performed slightly better than the Rangers in both the regular season and postseason. The Rangers offense holds the better metrics in both the regular and postseason. Despite the Rangers dropping all 3 of their home games in the ALCS, they were fantastic at home all year prior to that. They went 50-31 in Texas this season. We are going to side with the team who scores runs much more efficiently. The Rangers had 135 more runs scored during the regular season than the Diamondbacks, and they’ve already scored 20 more runs this postseason. Rangers on the moneyline is our wager. Enjoy game 1!
