Donny's Breakout Players For The 2021 NFL Season
The NFL season is quickly approaching and it is never too early to begin looking at some players who are in a great spot to have breakout seasons. Moving forward, SteadyPicks will be loaded with fun and insightful content to assist you in winning your league this year.

Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia QB)
Hear me out, Jalen Hurts could find himself putting up production similar to Lamar Jackson’s past seasons. No, he is not as quick or talented as Lamar Jackson, but Jalen Hurts is in a pretty good fantasy football position being in Philadelphia. He has been given the keys to the offense this season and his rushing productivity could propel him into a solid QB1. It still remains to be seen whether or not Jalen Hurts is the long-term answer at quarterback for the Eagles, but I trust him to have a very productive season in terms of fantasy football. For his current ADP (Average Draft Position), his upside is too valuable to pass up on.

Adam Trautman (New Orleans TE)
This seems to be a pretty popular breakout candidate for those into Fantasy Football, but the potential is there for Adam Trautman. If your draft philosophy involves waiting till the later rounds to pick up a Tight End, then this could be a guy to keep on your radar. With Jared Cook out of New Orleans, we should expect to see a high uptick in both his snaps and targets for Trautman. The Saints spent a third round pick on him in 2020 so clearly the team has some serious expectations for him this season. For Trautman’s sake, his best chance to succeed would be with Jameis Winston under center.

Laviska Shenault Jr. (Jacksonville WR)
The Jaguars made a boatload of additions to their offensive group with none being bigger than No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence. That is clearly a huge upgrade for them at the position which should benefit this Jaguars receiving core greatly. It is also worth noting that he closed the 2020 campaign very strongly with 3 total touchdowns in his last 2 games. While Shenault Jr. may also come with some risk due to other offensive weapons such as Travis Ettiene and Marvin Jones joining the Jags, he has too much upside to pass on at his current ADP.

Trey Sermon (San Francisco RB)
If you are not familiar with this guy, I suggest you look up his highlights at Ohio State. It is important to note that the 49ers traded up into the 3rd round to draft Sermon which makes me think he will get his shot. While the RB depth chart is sort of deep in San Francisco with Raheem Mostert likely to be slated the starter come Week 1, Trey Sermon passes the eye test for me. Also, we’ve seen Raheem Mostert on the injury list time and time again in recent years which could bode well for Trey Sermon’s playing time. With San Francisco having one of the easiest schedules in regards to the running back position, I will take my chances with Trey Sermon late in all of my drafts.
