The Open Championship at Royal St. George's Golf Club
(July 15th-18th 2021)
Pick # 1 - Brooks Koepka To Finish Top 10 (+160)
Koepka has three top 10 finishes in his last 4 Open events. He also has three top 5 finishes in his last 4 events overall. The bigger the event, the more of a threat Koepka becomes. We like a half unit bet on a top 10 finish for Brooksy.
Pick #2 - Jordan Spieth To Finish Top 10 (+190)
There are several indicators that suggest Jordan Spieth will play well this weekend. Spieth's ability to scramble well will be key, but he also ranks 7th in overall putting. He's finished in the top 10 in 8 of his last 13 events. Jordan Spieth warrants a top 10 bet for us.
Pick #3 - Scottie Scheffler To Finish Top 10 (+490)
In Scottie's last 5 majors, he's finished 7th, 8th, 18th, 19th, and 4th. He also finished 3rd at the Memorial, and 5th and the WGC Workday event. Scottie's been right there in most big events all year. He finished 12th in the Scottish Open last week. The price is right at (+490) on Scottie.
Pick #4 - Jon Rahm To Win (+800)
Jon Rahm won his first major at the U.S. Open. Our system had a pick on Rahm to win at (+1050), and we are going back to the well here for a couple reasons. First, as we mentioned, Rahm finally has the stress of winning a major off of his back. This should allow him to play more confident, and with less pressure. Second, Rahm looked great at the Scottish Open last weekend. There is no good reason that we can find to back off of Rahm.
Pick #5 - Xander Schauffele To Win (+1800)
Xander Schauffele has had some struggles with finishing when he's had opportunities to win. Similar to how we felt about Jon Rahm when we picked him to win the U.S. Open, it feels like Schauffele is next in line to win a major. He's played fantastic on link style courses throughout his young career. He also played well last week with a 10th place finish. Xander is going to win a big event soon, we want to make sure we have a ticket on him when he does.
Pick # 6 - Viktor Hovland To Win (+3000)
Hovland is the definition of a flyer bet. He's a guy who could either win this event, or miss the cut. At this price, we are willing to take a little quarter unit flyer. He has rare talent where if he plays well (and putts well specifically), he could pull away from the pack. A good start is key for Hovland, keep a close eye on him in round 1 on Thursday.
