Phillies F5 Innings +0.5 (-120)
Those who played SteadyPicks World Series pick back on
October 5th
are in a great spot heading into this World Series. For those who are new to SteadyPicks,
HERE
is the article to our World Series pick prior to the postseason beginning. We've got the Astros locked in at (+450), the current odds sit around (-190), so we've got a great positive EV bet in our pocket.
That being said, we do believe the value in this series is going to lie on the Phillies side. Especially in these righty vs. righty matchups like we have tonight. Both the Phillies and Astros are two of the best teams in the league against lefties. This will be a key matchup to look out for with the starting pitchers throughout the series. Tonight's starters (Aaron Nola & Justin Verlander) both had success in their lone start in this matchup. On October 4th (in the final series before the playoffs began), Verlander threw 5 no hit innings with 10 strikeouts against the Phillies. That game was played in Houston. The day prior to that, Aaron Nola threw 6.2 scoreless innings and struck out 9 in a win against the Astros. This was the last game that the Astros lost, they are a perfect 7-0 this postseason.
We are rolling with a one unit bet on the first 5 innings spread (+0.5). In order for this ticket to cash, the Phillies must either be tied or winning after the 5th inning. The Astros have a significant bullpen advantage, and most of the Phillies key relievers are lefties. On paper, this looks like a bad late game recipe for the Phillies. We will take those later innings out of play with this bet. The pressure will be on the Astros early in the series. Justin Verlander was hit hard by the Mariners in the ALDS. He's also 0-6 in World Series games throughout his career. Enjoy game 1 of the World Series everyone!
