Three MLB Futures Bets To Consider Before The Season Begins
#1) San Diego Padres To Win The World Series (+1000) via BetMGM

When you hear the phrase “all in”, there are a few teams that come to mind. However, none have been more aggressive than the San Diego Padres. This team started off their rebuild a few years back acquiring Manny Machado, and it’s been full systems ahead since then. The Padres acquired superstar outfielder Juan Soto at the trade deadline last season. This offseason, they signed Xander Bogarts to a massive 11 year 280 million dollar deal. One of the biggest hurdles this team overcame was getting over the hump of their division rivals (the Dodgers). The Padres knocked the Dodgers out of the playoffs last October, which may not have led them to their ultimate goal of a World Series, but it was a significant step forward. Fernando Tatis Jr. should be back around April 20th from his PED suspension. This team has strong starting pitching led by Yu Darvish, Joe Musgrove, and Blake Snell. They have a strong bullpen anchored by Josh Hader. When you look at all the boxes that a potential World Series Champion should check (offense, defense, starting pitching, bullpen, depth), the Padres check them all. At this 10-1 price, we are going to buy some early stock in the Padres. The danger here is that this division should be highly competitive. Regardless, in a 162 game season, the cream typically rises to the top. Watch out for these Padres!

#2) Minnesota Twins To Win The World Series (+5000) via PointsBet

The Twins lost Carlos Correa about 2-3 times in free agency, but somehow managed to bring him back at the buzzer. In addition to retaining Carlos Correa, the Twins acquired another highly talented starting pitcher in Pablo Lopez (via the Marlins). This Twins pitching staff has many talented young arms including Lopez, Joe Ryan, Tyler Mahle. They also still have quality veteran pitchers like Sonny Gray & Kenta Maeda. The Twins bullpen is expected to be above average based on last years metrics. Between Byron Buxton, Jorge Polanco, and Carlos Correa, this offense should take significant strides forward. This division should be one of the weaker divisions in the MLB. At 50-1 odds, this ticket could have strong positive expected value come late September, even from a hedge point. PointsBet currently has the best number in market on the Twins.

#3) Baltimore Orioles To Make The Postseason (+350) via PointsBet

Many Orioles fans were a bit disappointed when this team turned into sellers at the deadline last season. They followed that up with failing to make a big splash in the offseason. That said, this team's recipe for winning games was through their talented bullpen last season. That bullpen remains intact for the most part heading into this season. The Orioles have a very good young core in Cedric Mullins, Adley Rutschman, and Gunnar Henderson. The AL East division will be highly competitive with the likes of the Yankees, Rays, Blue Jays, & Red Sox. At this (+350) price, the books imply roughly a 22% probability of this bet hitting. We believe the Orioles chances are greater than 22%, so we will gladly take a flier here on a team trending upward.
