Three MLB Bets To Consider On Sunday July 30th 2023
Phillies @ Pirates 1:35pm
Phillies Moneyline (-144)
This bet is a fade on Pirates 43 year old starter, Rich Hill. The veteran lefty has given up 7 or more hits in his last four starts. Hill is allowing an average of approximately 10 hits and 3.5 walks per 9 innings this season. In the month of July, Rich Hill is 0-3 with a 6.12 ERA and 1.72 WHIP (25 innings). On the Phillies side of this pitching matchup is lefty Christopher Sanchez. In two road starts this season, Sanchez has a 0.90 ERA and 0.60 WHIP. Keep in mind that sample size is very small. Sanchez looked sharp outside of a couple bad pitches in his last start against the Orioles. The Phillies have the better bullpen and the more explosive offense. Our wager is on the Phillies moneyline.

Cubs @ Cardinals 2:15pm
Cubs Moneyline (+120)
Cubs starting pitcher, Kyle Hendricks, has a 2.82 ERA and 0.83 WHIP on the road this season (38.1 innings). For whatever reason, he has pitched much better away from Wrigley field this season. This will be Hendricks first start against the Cardinals in 2023, but he pitched a 7 inning shutout in his only start here last season. The Cubs offense is scorching hot right now. They lead the entire MLB in batting average (.305) and OPS (.880) over the last 15 days. The Cardinals will start lefty Steven Matz, who just faced this Cubs lineup a little over a week ago. Matz pitched well in that particular game, but he hasn’t pitched well in Busch Stadium this season. Steven Matz is 0-4 with a 1.41 WHIP at home. We will side with the road divisional dogs in this matchup. Cubs on the moneyline is our bet. Our stake is a half unit.

Orioles vs. Yankees 7:10pm
Orioles Moneyline (-125)
Yankees starting pitcher Luis Severino is simply not someone you want to put your money behind right now. Severino currently holds an ERA and FIP north of 6. He’s having the worst season of his career, and by a significant margin. He’s allowing an average of 12 hits, over 2 home runs, and nearly 4 walks per 9 innings. Severino is 0-3 with a 7.62 ERA and 1.97 WHIP on the road. Back on July 6th, the Orioles faced Severino and they scored 7 runs off 10 hits in just 2.2 innings. Orioles starter Dean Kremer is not our favorite pitcher on this staff to back, but he pitched very well in July. Kremer is 2-0 with a 2.92 ERA and 0.89 WHIP this month. Aaron Judge is back in the lineup for the Yankees, but their offense still has a lot of question marks. We feel comfortable backing the Orioles in this Sunday Night baseball matchup.
