Longwood lost their opener to St. Bonaventure, but have won 10 consecutive games since. They are currently tied with 10-0 Houston for the nation's longest active win streak. Longwood will have their win streak on the line tonight going on the road to play Milwaukee. Simply put, there are very few areas where Milwaukee is better than Longwood. Milwaukee does have a slightly better offensive efficiency rating, but Longwood’s defense has a significant edge. Milwaukee has one of the worst defenses in the country. They rank outside of the top 350 in adjusted defensive efficiency. Longwood escaped a letdown spot on the road against Delaware State with a 62-61 win. They had a terrible offensive game, but Longwoods defense kept them in the game. We anticipate a better offensive performance tonight for Longwood against a poor Milwaukee defense. Our bet is 1 unit on Longwood -2.5.

First year Utah State coach Danny Sprinkle is off to a great start this season. Sprinkle had a lot of success in the Big Sky Conference at Montana State. He brought two of his key starters from Montana State’s 25-win team last year (Darius Brown & Great Osobor). Utah State ranks inside the top 80 in both adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency. Santa Clara ranks outside of the top 125 nationally in both of those metrics. For us, this wager comes down to backing the team that scores points much easier and more efficiently. Utah State ranks 17th in the nation in effective field goal percentage. Our wager is 1 unit on Utah State to cover the -2.5 spread.

This will be the third consecutive road game for Norfolk State. It’s a tough spot in terms of scheduling, but their opponent tonight is very beatable. Stony Brook will play their third consecutive home game. They are on the opposite end of the scheduling spectrum. Stony Brook beat a solid Bryant team on Saturday, but it’s important to note that they hit 16 three’s in that game (shot 53% from beyond the arc). This Norfolk State defense defends the three point line well. Their opponents are shooting 31% from three point range this season. The specialty of Norfolk State has been their defense's ability to create turnovers. The Spartans have a 23% defensive turnover rate, which is 7th best in the entire nation. They rank 16th nationally in defensive steal percentage. We will gladly take the +2 points in a game that our numbers suggest Norfolk should be able to win outright. Our stake is a half unit.
