Let’s start by acknowledging that the Cowboys have won each of their home games by double digits this season. Those wins have come against the Jets, Patriots, Rams, and Giants. Needless to say, the competition has been less than stellar. Dallas lost the only 2 games against who we consider to be contending teams (49ers & Eagles). The good news for Dallas is that they have another bottom feeder today in the Commanders. While the Cowboys have beat up on bad teams this season, we see a path for the Commanders to hang in this game. Washington has a good rushing attack behind Brian Robinson Jr. The Cowboys secondary and pass rush has been phenomenal, but their run defense has been vulnerable. Dallas ranks right around the league average at defending the run. The Commanders have played a much tougher schedule than the Cowboys to this point. All of their divisional games (including 2 against the Eagles) have been decided by less than 13.5 points. Both games against the Eagles were decided within a score. While the Commanders are far from a contender, 13.5 points is too many for us to pass up in a primetime divisional game. Our biggest concern with this wager is how frequently Sam Howell gets sacked. He’s the most sacked QB in the NFL by a wide margin. It will be key for the Commanders to keep their young QB ahead of the chains, and out of long 3rd down passing situations. Our wager is a half unit on the Commanders to cover the 13.5 points.
