SteadyPicks Best Bets For College Football Week 1
East Carolina @ Michigan
East Carolina +36.5 (-110)
Michigan will be without head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore. The Wolverines also have two of their top players in the secondary, and two of their top wide receivers that are questionable for this game. The total in this game sits at 52, which is low for a game with a 36.5 point spread. ECU went 8-5 last season, but they played their toughest opponents competitively. That included a 1 point loss against NC State as double digit dogs in their opener last season. We are going to take the +36.5 points. Our wager is a half unit.

TCU vs. Colorado
TCU -20.5 (-110)
TCU lost a decent amount of talent from last year's team. That includes starting QB Max Duggan. However, it’s important to consider that Chandler Morris actually beat out Max Duggan last year in the QB competition. The only reason Duggan became the QB was because Morris got injured. Colorado is a completely renovated program with new head coach Deion Sanders. It’s important to remember that Colorado was a 1-11 team last year. Deion certainly brought some talent with him, but this program can only progress so far in less than a year. TCU is a well oiled machine that ran through a lot of very good opponents last season. We will lay the -20.5 points behind TCU.

Western Kentucky vs. South Florida
Western Kentucky -12 (-110)
South Florida went 1-11 last season and had one of the worst defenses in the entire nation. They brought in a new head coach, and acquired over 30 new players through the transfer portal. Western Kentucky brings back their head coach, QB, and most of their key players from last season's 9-5 team. Western Kentucky QB Austin Reed led the nation in passing yards last season, throwing for 40 TDs. We see value laying just 12 points behind what should be a significantly better offense. WKU -12 is our wager.

South Carolina vs. North Carolina
South Carolina Moneyline (+118)
We are going to side with the underdogs in this matchup for a couple of reasons. It’s no secret that North Carolina will have the best player on the field in QB Drake Maye. For those who are not familiar with Drake Maye, many NFL scouts believe he has a legitimate chance to challenge Caleb Williams as the top QB in the nation. This will be an interesting test for Drake Maye in a rivalry game, and against a secondary that has been flying under the radar. South Carolina brought back their top safety and top two corners from last season. North Carolina has an explosive offense, but they had one of the worst defenses in the nation on the other side of the ball. South Carolina’s offense was inconsistent last year, but it’s worth noting that they finished the season out with wins against #6 ranked Tennessee, and #13 ranked Clemson. The Gamecocks averaged 44 points in their final 3 games, all of which had far better defenses than North Carolina (Tennessee, Clemson, Notre Dame). The bookmakers do not seem willing to give a +3 on the home dogs. The line currently sits at a consensus of 2.5. Rather than being on the wrong side of a key number, we will opt for the (+118) price on the moneyline.
