White Sox vs. Giants 2:10pm
White Sox Moneyline (-130)
Here we are backing White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Cease. For those who heavily value spring training metrics, Dylan Cease is a perfect example of why you should always take spring numbers with a grain of salt. Cease had a dreadful spring training, posting a 7.31 ERA in 16 innings pitched. Despite that, he looked very sharp in the White Sox opener. Dylan Cease allowed just 2 hits in 6.1 innings, and recorded a win against the Astros. He also had 10 strikeouts, which is a rare occurrence for pitchers facing Houston. The Astros are one of the best teams in the league at putting the ball in play. Only the Guardians struck out less last season. Giants starter Logan Webb allowed 2 home runs in his first start, and 3 home runs throughout spring training. Webb did record 12 strikeouts, but we will have to keep an eye on his recent vulnerability to the long ball. The Giants bullpen has looked questionable through their first 4 games (ERA over 6, and 7 walks). Our wager is a half unit on the White Sox to get their first home win of the season.
