We are going to side with the road team in this NL East divisional matchup. Braves starting pitcher Max Fried has pitched fantastic in his last two starts. He faced two tough offenses in the Astros and Padres, and did not allow an earned run in either game. Fried has not allowed more than 4 hits in any of his starts this season. Last season Max Fried recorded 3 wins against the Mets, finishing with a 2.79 ERA against them in 29 innings. On the other side of this pitching matchup, Mets starter David Peterson has been struggling. Peterson has given up 5 home runs in his last 11 innings. His hits allowed per 9 innings is alarmingly high (11.6). Peterson's ERA (7.36) and home run rate per 9 innings (2.5) are at career highs. It is worth noting that David Peterson pitched well against the Braves last season (2-1 with a 2.76 ERA). However, he simply isn’t in good form right now. To make matters worse for David Peterson, the Braves have been crushing left handed pitching this season! Atlanta is hitting .288 against lefties, which is good for 3rd best in the MLB. The Mets are hitting just .233 against lefties (Max Fried is also a southpaw). In terms of the bullpens, these teams rank very close to one another.
