In this matchup, we are rolling with a half-unit play on the New Orleans Pelicans as +1.5 point home dogs against the Sacramento Kings. Both of these teams have outperformed expectations so far this season. The Kings have started 8-5 including a stretch without star point guard De’Aaron Fox. The Pelicans are 7-7 without CJ McCollum for most of their games. We’re betting on the Pelicans here for two main reasons: 1) they whooped the Kings on Monday and 2) the Kings could be missing both Trey Lyles and Keegan Murray. Lyles, an important contributor to the Kings’ defense, is listed as questionable. He has missed every regular season game so far this season with a calf injury. Should he play tonight, he’ll likely need some time to catch back up to the speed of NBA basketball. Doing so against Zion Williamson is no picnic. Keegan Murray, who is less likely to play tonight, has also been a massive contributor to the Kings scoring outputs. He has been the key to their second unit’s scoring so far. Without him, they could have trouble getting off the ground once the starters come out. The Pelicans have also proved their mettle against this Kings team, beating them 129-93 on Monday. While we don’t anticipate another stomping like that, not much has changed for either team over the last two days. The formula for the Pelicans to win is still in place.
