Another round of the in-season tournament is in action tonight. In this nationally televised TNT game, we’re putting a half-unit on the Thunder -9.5. A big storyline for this game is the two heavy favorites for rookie of the year facing off against each other. Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama’s matchup will certainly be entertaining. These two teams are trending in complete opposite directions right now. The Spurs are in the midst of an almost historic backslide, losing and failing to cover the spread in their last 5 games. San Antonio has looked flat out bad in some of these games. Meanwhile, the Thunder have been living up to the potential of their young core. Oklahoma City has started the season 6-4, with only one loss over 7 points. The Spurs have a 28th ranked defense, and a 25th ranked offense, while the Thunder have the NBA’s 8th ranked offense and 15th ranked defense. Now add the fact that Jeremy Sochan, Tre Jones and Keldon Johnson are all questionable to play in this game. Sochan and Jones are the Spurs top two point guards, and Johnson is a key contributor to their wing defense. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey should be able to have a lot of success against this San Antonio defense. We like the Thunder to win this game by double digits.
