Valdez was a big reason why the Astros won the World Series in 2022. He’s a big game pitcher, with good home metrics in 2023. We anticipate a good performance from Valdez tonight. Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi was not pitching well heading into the postseason. However, he’s pitched well since the playoffs have started. The Rangers have won both of his starts so far. In Eovaldi’s most recent start against the Astros (September 5th), he lasted just 1.1 innings and the Rangers lost 14-1. Our wager is a half unit on the Astros to get a much needed game 2 win.

The Diamondbacks have their ace Zac Gallen on the mound tonight for game 1. Arizona has won both of Gallen’s starts so far this postseason. Both of those games were on the road, which is typically where Gallen struggles. This season Zac Gallen had a 4.42 ERA on the road compared to a 2.47 ERA at home in Arizona. Tonight will be the 3rd straight road start for Gallen, and it will be the toughest environment yet. Philadelphia is as tough of a road environment as it gets in baseball. The Phillies will start Zack Wheeler, who has pitched great in his two postseason outings. Wheeler pitched a gem against the Marlins in the Wild Card round, and had the Phillies in position to win in Atlanta. The Phillies bullpen let that game slip. Philadelphia’s bullpen has a 1.45 ERA this postseason. This is the best amongst the 4 remaining teams. The Phillies offense leads the remaining field in OPS and batting average this postseason. Philly is 4-0 at Citizens Bank Park in the playoffs. The Phillies on the moneyline is our wager.
