Lakers -2.5 (-115)
We have been on the Nuggets for the first 3 games of this series. The oddsmakers have made roughly a 3 point correction to the spread here in game 4. There are two players that have made the biggest impact on this series so far. The first is Nuggets guard Jamal Murray. His point totals in games 1 through 3 are 31, 37, and 37. Murray is knocking down three point shots at a 45% rate this series (15/33). Over the full sample size of this season, Murray hits three point shots at roughly a 38% clip on the road. The other player that has impacted the series dramatically (in a less productive way), is D’Angelo Russell. During the regular season Russell averaged 17 points for the Lakers. In round 1 of the playoffs he averaged 16 points against the Grizzlies. In round 2 against the Warriors, Russell averaged 14 points. This series against the Nuggets he’s averaging just 7 points, and coming off of a 3 points performance. Despite the struggles, D’Angelo Russell is still averaging 26 minutes this series. Keep a close eye on the performance of these two players tonight. We are going to lay the slightly juiced 2.5 points at BetMGM, and hope to see the Lakers perform better on both sides of the ball with their season on the line. The Lakers only forced 5 turnovers in game 3, while turning the ball over 12 times. Despite winning the rebounding battle (45-39) and outsourcing the Nuggets in the paint by a wide margin (52-38), the Lakers fell short just about everywhere else. It’s worth considering that while the Nuggets have been fantastic at home this season/postseason, they have had struggles outside of Denver. The Nuggets are just 22-25 on the road overall this season/postseason. We can stomach laying 2.5 points in this spot tonight with the home team.
