Our Best Bets:
Shohei Ohtani To Win (+260)
- 33 home runs before the all star break is no fluke. Ohtani isn’t just hitting home runs, he’s hitting moon shots. There are a lot of big sluggers in the field, but we can live with the price on Ohtani here.
Matt Olson To Win (+500)
- As a lefty, Matt Olson will have to deal with the big right field wall. However, Olson has a high average launch angle and his average home run length is 407 feet. Olson is also on what looks to be the “easier” side of the bracket. He wouldn’t have to face Shohei Ohtani or Pete Alonso until the championship round.
Our Longshot:
Salvador Perez To Win (+1500)
- Quite frankly, these odds are disrespectful to Perez. He ranks in the top percentile in the league in several advanced hitting metrics, including a 14.1 barrel percentage. He’s worth a flyer at this price.
Enjoy the Home Run Derby tonight everyone! The MLB will be back in action on Thursday with a Yankees vs. Red Sox matchup. All other teams will return to action on Friday.
