Eagles vs. Vikings 8:20pm
Eagles -2.5 (-110)
Tonight we are going to back the Philadelphia Eagles in their home opener. Both of these teams are coming off of week 1 victories, and both offenses looked very good. The Eagles defense struggled in Detroit. They ranked dead last in tackling, which is a concerning metric going up against playmakers like Dalvin Cook and Justin Jefferson. However, part of the poor tackling could be credit to a dominant Lions offensive line. In addition to that, some week 1 rust is to be expected with starters getting limited reps in preseason. There is also less tackling taking place in training camp year over year to avoid concussions and injuries. The Eagles defense had decent pass rush metrics, and their pass coverage metrics weren't anything to be overly alarmed about. We expect all of these metrics to improve for the Eagles with a game under their belt, and their home crowd behind them. The Vikings defense held the Packers to just 7 points. However, if you dive into the numbers the Vikings run defense was poor, which is the strength of the Eagles team. There were also several dropped passes on what could have been scoring plays (or plays to get in scoring position). In terms of line movement, most books have this 2.5 juiced up, and some books have even been showing 3's. Our bet is one unit on the Eagles to win by a field goal or more.
