We like this price on one of the best pitchers in the American League last season (Dylan Cease). The White Sox had a rough year in 2022, they dealt with a lot of injuries and never quite got it rolling. One of the lone bright spots from last season was the breakout of Dylan Cease. He finished 2nd behind Justin Verlander in the AL Cy Young race, and ranked top 5 in the American League in nearly every key pitching metric. Framber Valdez also had a very good season for his club in 2022. Valdez posted a 17 win season with a 2.82 ERA, and went 3-0 in the Astros World Series run. For us, this bet purely comes down to the price on the underdogs. The current market price implies roughly a 42% win probability for the White Sox. Our model suggests this price on the White Sox should be closer to (+110) with Cease on the mound. Keep in mind, a lot of our data right now is based on last season. It's important to take the early data with a grain of salt. That said, we feel comfortable taking the plus money on the road dogs. Our stake is a half unit.
